Joann M. Russell
Joann and I formed Red Barn together in 2003. In May of 2007, as part of our strategy to move to the Portland area and to further her professional goals, Joann accepted an opportunity to become a member of the Global HR Team at Nike as the Director of HR Strategy and OD.

Joann has years of experience as a leader and consultant to leaders. She held executive level positions, lead high performing teams, consulted to teams about the behaviors and skills needed to achieve business results, and led teams to achieve difficult results. She is experienced with a broad range of team situations, having developed in-house and dispersed global teams, and worked with teams in all stages of growth.
Joann was a senior HR leader and has consulted to HR leadership, assuring that the organization has the skills and processes in place to meet customer and shareholder requirements. Joann designed development plans for executives, conducted investigations at all levels within a company’s structure, and guided policy development. Joann is a skilled evaluator of talent and excels in developing managers into effective senior leaders.
A trained mediator, Joann mediated a wide variety of multi-party conflicts to successful resolution for clients in many sectors of government, industry and non-profits. She developed in-house conflict resolution processes and training programs, including one for Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
